Textile Roots – Ireland’s Textile Heritage

Slide show and talk by Vawn Corrigan

Duration: 90 minutes.  Admission: Free (must be pre-booked)

The wool trade and weaving go back to ancient times; lacemaking and the Aran knit once threw a lifeline to rural communities and today the heritage continues to inspire. Natural, sustainable, artisan textiles are forging a new place in our changing world yet, creating textiles has always been at the heart of Irish culture. Using historic and contemporary images Vawn Corrigan will lead you through this fascinating journey. Vawn is the author of many historic, craft and textile writings, she will be signing her two heritage books Irish Aran and Irish Tweed after the event.
