We were welcomed by the staff at the desk and were told the next tour was 45 minutes later - as we chatted, the previous group finished there tour and came into the reception, all of them beaming and saying how great it was.
It really was great, it was a wonderful interactive Theatre production, we learnt so much not only about the history of the castle, but also about this part of Ireland many years ago. I won’t say too much about the experience, because I want you to enjoy the surprises too! Just go, you won’t regret it - well done to all the team involved at the Heritage Centre.

Dalkey (seems to... read more rhyme with talky) is easy to access from Dublin - about an hour ride south on DART. The town is picturesque with lots of food options. Just north of Dalkey is Dun Laoghaire with its maritime museum and Sunday fair. All three made for a great day.

You can incorporate it into a day in Dalkey, walks, Colimore Harbour, a bite to eat, a coffee, pint in Finnegans. It's a surprise destination for people who are visiting Dublin and everyone enjoys it. The castle tour is a recommendation!

So I walked right into the visitor center, and the receptionist greeted me with a big smile. She was so kind and generous with her time, that I decided to sign up for the Castle tour. Little did I know how truly special the tour would be. I went out to have a spot of tea and then came back for the tour. The guide met me with the same enthusiasm as the receptionist. He was knowledgeable and funny. And then came the real excitement. I don't want to spoil the adventure for anyone, but I will say that there were three different period actors along the tour that told thrilling stories. I had such a blast chatting with them! I cannot wait to bring my friends and family back to the Dalkey Castle tour.

The introductory film was excellent. I was not expecting an interactive tour so really enjoyed the surprise.

The staff were all very welcoming and the 'surprise' staff of the castle were so pleasant and engaging.

I would highly recommend the tour.

One hour flew by and we could have easily stayed for one more hour. Had a great time and would highly recommend. Our 11 year old son truly enjoyed the experience which is quite unique compared to other guided tours we have done in Dublin. Thank you.

I brought three of my... read more children (11, 6 and 4) on a chilly saturday morning. The tour starts gently enough with a video intro and a little q&a session and then it all goes mad. You start to meet the historic figures. They're all busy at their trade with an excellent mix of educational content and just enough gore and grossness to really hook the kids.

A highlight of course was getting on to the battlements and seeing Dalkey in all its glory, not to mention minting your own coin at the end.

Last thing - the gift shop is wonderful. Something for everyone and a few very well priced pieces so you dont feel to indulgent treating the kids.
