Guided Historical Walk

Take the fresh sea air on a guided historical walk around the picturesque coastal heritage town of Dalkey. At Coliemore Harbour, hear about the Viking slave trade on Dalkey Island, how Dalkey got its name and why large ships anchored in Dalkey Sound.

On Castle Street, marvel at the origins of ‘daylight robbery’, the discovery of a horde of Viking coins and how a young woman led the Dalkey Gold Rush.

Dalkey is famously home to, and a favourite of, a host of celebrities. See where Hollywood A listers Matt Damon and Brad Pitt bought their groceries, where Harry Styles went swimming, where Bono brought Michelle Obama for lunch and where Maeve Binchy had her own lunch table.

We offer luxury experiences for those looking for something even more exclusive.

These walks must be pre-booked and a minimum group number of 10 is required.

Tickets €18 per person (10 x €18, total €180) +Booking Fees.

star rating  A magical experience - Perfect length, group size and guides. They really put their hearts into the acting and made it fun/interactive/educational. My kids (6 and 9) will remember this forever. Their first castle... read more experience! We actually arrived a bit late so I was ready to be turned away but the front desk staff brought us into the room where the tour was happening so we were still able to join. Very steep and narrow stairs at some points- dangerous for those not able to climb or not stable on their feet. I believe some older guests were given an alternative route from our group but they may have missed one part of the tour.

star rating  Highly recommended - We had a wonderful time getting quickly into character with the arrival of the barber the initial activity of munting a coin with the children was a great idea.staff... read more were exceptionally patient with the children. This is not a boring museum and apart from the initial room there is no information to read making it child friendly. All the characters were fantastic and the information was given in a way that my daughter was able to remember later on due to story telling. The rest of the staff were also wonderful. A lovely moment that left me wanting to hear more.
Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.
