Discover Dalkey’s Literary Legends

From Beckett to Bono and James Joyce to Maeve Binchy, some of Ireland’s most famous names share a connection to Dalkey. Discover Dalkey’s Literary Legends is a uniquely devised, illuminating experience which features a guided literary walking tour, private dinner, and magical theatrical evening.

Kick off with the Literary Stars walking tour which winds its way through Dalkey’s quirky streets with snippets and extracts from works along the way.

After private dining, marvel at the actors performing In Their Own Words… including JM Synge’s infamous scene which caused riots in the Abbey Theatre in 1907. To finish, we have a Dalkey Castle exclusive with a song composed for us by an international rock star.

What our Luxury Visitors Say…

I never realised that there were so many writers and creatives associated with the little town of Dalkey. I knew Bono came from there and not much else. Being fans of Martin Sheen, our group was keen to see where Hugh Leonard’s Da was filmed. Not alone that, but there was wonderful scene from the play In their Own Words that evening. This was a brilliant and fun collage of the work of Irish writers from afternoon into the evening. We had gorgeous dinner in 1909 but the showstopper was the Van Morrison song at the end of the show. We were treated to an exclusive composition too which on pain of death, we can’t tell. We wiped away a joyful tear. Thanks to all the team, the guides and the actors
